MENTOR OH - Gallery One’s famed annual Masterworks in Miniature ends April 1. The exhibit showcases 150 small, and truly outstanding, works of art - a favorite with astute collectors. "The demand for these miniature masterpieces is so intense," said Alan Brown, Gallery One president, "that prospective buyers must submit “intent-to-purchase” forms in hopes of “being drawn” to buy their favorites." While some of the Masterworks will fit in the palm of one's hand, others are as large as 9" x 12," the show's maximum. Regardless of size, all are exquisitely detailed and represent the high quality expected of the individual artists. Genres represented include wildlife, portraiture, still life, landscape, fantasy and historical art. Artists represented include Robert Bateman, Dean Morrissey, James Christensen, John Seerey-Lester, Maynard Reece and other stars of today's art world. A special selection of the 2006 Masterworks entries has been designated "Masterfools." These works combine humor with fine art for images that are absolutely wonderfool, delightfool and artfool. For eligibility to buy any of the miniatures, “intent-to-purchase” forms must be filed by mail, phone or email. Winners of purchase rights will be drawn on April 1 at the close of the event. Two prestigious Master Palette Awards are made following each year's Masterworks: The artist with the most votes earns the People’s Choice Award, while the artist with the most intent-to-purchase forms filed wins the Buyer’s Choice Award. Past recipients of these awards include Robert Bateman, James Christensen, Dean Morrissey, John Weiss, Michael Dumas and Sue Wall. Gallery One is located at 7003 Center St. (Rt. 615) between Routes 90 and 2. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.
