Western Reserve Museum of Farms and Equipment located in Richfield, Ohio is undergoing rapid expansion this summer in last-ditch effort to save historic buildings from destruction by developers. Now is the time to help save a one-room schoolhouse and 4 barns before destruction this summer. We are in desperate need of help.
Western Reserve Museum of Farms and Equipment is a 48-acre farm that is dedicated to preserve the tools, equipment, skills and way of life lived by Ohioans in the 1800s. Jim Fry semi retired farmer began the museum in 1987 on his family homestead and has since collected 26 buildings including what maybe the largest surviving blacksmith shop in Ohio and the oldest one of a kind barn in the state as well as a much of the contents found in the shops in a historic village. Western Reserve Museum of Farms and Equipment supports artists and craftsmen, weavers, tinsmiths basket makers, harness makers and many other artists with space and opportunities.
Come and share the once in a lifetime experience as we hold an old fashion barn raising with food, music, laughter and fun all around. Volunteers of any age as there are many tasks are welcome. Any kind of help will be gratefully accepted, Special need for monetary donations for building restorations and many opportunities for volunteers to use or learn skills. Donations of family or historical items welcome.
