Intro to Lindy!
Going from Jitterbug to Lindy 7pm-8:15pm
How to easily bridge that Jitterbug to Lindy gap and come out successfully swingin’!
Intro to Swing!
For the absolute beginner 8:30pm-9:45pm
Intro to FUN! This is a beginners Jitterbug class. Increasingly dynamic moves will be used to build frame and connection with our partners and that will lead us into a comfortable first partnered dancing experience.
Mondays at Get Hep Swing in Cleveland at 5340 Hamilton Ave #205
Beginning Balboa for the rookie dancer 7pm—8:15pm
Learn this fun dance that started in Southern Cali in the 30s. Great for developing lead and follow skills because of the close position to your partner. This dance is perfect for crowded dance floors and for dancing to bands with caffeine addictions.
Bal-Swing for Intermediate bal dancers 8:30pm – 9:45
Bal-Swing can be a bit tricky, but not when you learn from these pros! Improve your throw out and learn some other really super cool open position variations. This is the next logical step after you are feeling decent in Balboa.
Wednesdays in North Olmsted
Jitterbug 2 for Intermediate level dancers 7pm-8:15pm
You have your single and triple steps down and you are ready to move on to some fancy new moves and more complicated variations on the old standards.
Lindy 2 for Intermediate Lindy dancers 8:30pm-9:45pm
Your swing out is decent and you can dance to more than just the slow songs. Get ready for some cooooool new moves and footwork patterns.
Tuesdays the GHS teachers are at the Brecksville Center for the Arts in Brecksville teaching a 6 week session from Oct 17th (no class Oct 31st) to Nov 28th. For more info on classes and prices please see: www.BrecksvilleArts.org or call 440-526-6232
Wednesdays the GHS teachers are also at the Beck Center in Lakewood teaching a Beginners’ Swing Dance 8 week session from Sept 6th to Oct 25th, 7:30-8:30pm and there will also be a Beginners Level 2 Swing dance class from 8:30-9:30pm. Frequently asked questions?
Do I need a partner to take swing dance lessons? Nope, you sure don’t. We rotate partners throughout the class so that everyone learns how to dance in a true lead and follow manner. This will allow you to go any where and dance with any one. And that equals MORE FUN!!!
What should I wear to class?
Dress comfy and in layers. Not because it will be cold, but because you may heat up! It is nice to be able to shed a layer of clothing if it starts to feel too balmy. Every studio we teach at has plenty of heating AND COOLING! Yea for A/C!
What kind of shoes should I wear?
Once again, comfy is the answer. Just wear a shoe that has your toes and heels mostly covered and is not too sticky and not too slippery. Leather soled shoes work great. I LOVE my Keds.
