Through film and a sel-guided tour, the vistior will learn about the scrolls and the Jewish sect which most-likely produced them, why they were hidden and how they were found nearly 2000 years later. Scroll replics and actual artifacts from Qumran (where he scrolls were found). While the sctual scrolls are kept in a special vault in Isreal to preserve them, this is one of 10 exhibits commissioned by the Isreali government. It will visit 8 cities in the United States this year, the 60th anniversary of the finding of the scrolls in the desert surrounding the Dead Sea.
A lecture by Dr. David R. Seely(one of a team of only 60 scientists world-wide) who is working to restore the scrolls will lecture April 14th in Kirtland at 7 p.m.
