Cleveland has a new face on the scene of independent film making. This writer, producer and director will stop at nothing until his dreams and visions for The City of Cleveland are realized of becoming an integral part of the motion picture industry. IGAB is headed by Founder & CEO, Ronairo L. Wilburn. Ronairo attended the University of Akron pursuing a dual major in business finance and international business, also with a minor in creative writing. Pledging Delta Sigma Pi, a prominent business fraternity, later propelled him to ascertain his creative mind thrusting him into a world of urban romance and dramatic writings, poetry, song writing and the strong desire to breathe life into his creative visions. Now, he is working as an entrepreneur with two enterprising ventures in the fields of real estate acquisitions and entertainment. The formation of IGAB FILMWORKS, LLC (IGAB is an acronym for Independent Gifted and Black) has given birth to a series of screen plays to be completed including: “For the Love of Women”, “Chocolate for the Soul”, and “A River Flows with Tears”. These stories aesthetically takes us on a journey deeply rooted in love, life and pain embracing our true inner desires to passionately give of ourselves in life and death for the ones we truly love.
He originally came up with the idea of forming an independent motion picture company, roughly, in 1997. During a pretty hard time in his life, he decided to redirect a lot of his negative energy into positive energy and began to write a screenplay. He began to submit his screenplay to different venues and received some pretty good reviews on his writing which further led him to believe that he had something he could build on. After spending a few months trying to come up with a name that would encompass everything that he had experienced in his young life and also that was going on around him in his community, he realized “One thing needed in our communities is leadership and real men”. Eventually he was led to the acronym “IGAB” that encompassed everything in our struggles from early on in life, to the present. So he decided to get a pen and paper and create an idea and try to develop a story around it. That's how he started writing. The next step was to find individuals who share the same ideas and visions that he had; like his business partners Phillip G. Deal, Timothy White Sr, William Cruz Morales, Tito Hernandez and Otis Walker Jr. Hardship brought them together.
IGAB Film Works vision is to become Cleveland’s premier source for producing film projects nationally and internationally. Not only producing works from the creative minds of their organization, but also anyone who would like to bring their vision to life.
The inaugural production of their first feature is entitled “For the Love of Women” which is an urban romance drama that tells the tale of an African American male, Martice Johnson (26), who as a child witnesses his mother’s infidelity, resulting in the murder suicide of his parents. Martice, haunted with reoccurring memories of his past, becomes emotionally handicapped fearing that the motives of women and their true intentions would eventually end up re-manifesting his father’s tragic breakdown, in him as well. But as fate would have it, love will find a way as he suddenly finds himself entangled within the aesthetic beauty of love interest, Jasmine Taylor (25). She is the granddaughter of local community store owners Mr. & Mrs. Taylor. Martice must now become acclimated with his feelings as he ascertains his true desire to love, and between the balancing act of dealing with an over protective sibling, the vicarious behavior of two good friends and accusations from an abusive friend’s husband, it becomes an uphill battle he must now face presenting an ominous situation that may cost him his life all for the love of a woman.
"Our mission is to provide a cultural alternative to the commercial film experience, and to celebrate and promote the artistic elements of the medium within the City Of Cleveland, and to nurture and promote the art of filmmaking itself. We want to create a global presence within the entertainment and economic industry, and utilize, develop, promote and train Cleveland remarkable and inspiring talent."
