On Saturday, September 1, 2007, the Office of Robert C. Klaiber, Jr., P.E., P.S., Cuyahoga County Engineer, will open the doors to the lower level of the Veterans Memorial Bridge for the Labor Day tour. In June 2007, over 1,600 visitors came to experience one of Cleveland's historical gems and what once was the major hub for the City's public transportation. While taking this tour, you will experience the old streetcar station, what the Cuyahoga River looks like from 100 feet above, as well as the art decor on the upper level.
Aside from the various films and exhibits, a new attraction has been added. A 1947 PCC streetcar is on display for people to view, both inside and out. This streetcar is similar to the ones that once ran in Shaker Heights.
Doors open at 9:00 a.m., and the free, self-guided tours will end at 3:00 p.m. There is no need to make reservations. The main entrance is located at 2433 Superior Viaduct. Signs for the tour will be posted and volunteers will be directing traffic. Free parking is available at the County Engineer lots located at this address.
Come see what people have been talking about for years! It is great for all ages.
For more information, please contact the County Engineer's Office at 216-348-3800. On the day of tour, please call 216-348-3900.
