The auction will feature a stunning collection of paintings, prints, and photography donated by more than 75 talented local and national artists, including the next generation of artists currently studying at Case Western Reserve University, Kent State University, and Akron University. Original works will be awarded to the highest bidder via silent auction, with proceeds benefiting Planned Parenthood of Northeast Ohio. The event will honor Connie Schultz, Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist for The Plain Dealer, for her commitment to women’s rights and to Planned Parenthood. “Connie Schultz exemplifies The Power of Woman,” said PPNEO CEO Tara Broderick. “Her wit, spirit, and commitment to social justice inspire us all.” Cleveland-based artist Cathie Bleck, who has received numerous international commissions, is contributing a piece entitled “The Rest.” According to Bleck, her print of a woman represents “a point of reflection on the midpoint of life, resting on a beautiful and bountiful past contemplating the rest of her life.” Event co-Chairs are Rita Montlack and Dennis Barrie. Montlack said, “I am thrilled to help coordinate this event for Planned Parenthood. It is so gratifying to bring together Northeast Ohio’s amazing artists and the area’s most important women’s health organization to celebrate The Power of Woman.” Tickets cost $50, and include hors d’oeuvres by Cleveland’s most creative restaurants such as Fire Food and Drink, Lopez, Tastebuds and many more. Wine and beer will be available for purchase, and free, secure parking is available. The event begins at 7 PM, and silent auction bids will close at 10 PM. A special live auction will take place at 9 PM. For tickets or more event information, contact Emily Thome at (216) 961-8804 x1221.
