The Crowtations, The Brewery Puppet Troupe--CPL

Louis Stokes Wing Auditorium
April 4, 2008 - April 5, 2008

Cleveland Public Library will present a free and open to the public program, featuring The Brewery Puppet Troupe, best known for creating the renowned hand and rod puppets, The Crowtations, on Friday April 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Louis Stokes Wing Auditorium, Main Library, 6th Street and Superior Avenue.
The Crowtations will perform at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo as a culminating activity for the students who participated in the Library’s Winter Reading Club Campaign and their families on Saturday, April 5 at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Cleveland Public Library is hosting The Crowtations for the Winter Reading Club 2008 finale event, because it shares part of the troupe’s mission, bringing professional appealing puppetry to children and families.
The Crowtations, a part of the Brewery Puppet Troupe’s repertoire (led by creator, Brad Brewer), for a number of years, will delight audiences with musical numbers featuring four, distinct, charming smooth singing hand and rod puppet crows that come to life. The careers of these loveable birds got a big boost when Bill Cosby saw them warming up audiences on television. Cosby offered them a recurring role on Malcolm Jamal Warner’s NBC series, Here and Now, produced by Cosby.
The Brewery Troupe’s Crowtations regularly attracted large crowds to their open air performances in New York’s Central Park while trying out new material. Coca-Cola discovered them in the park and captured their special excitement in an international commercial featuring the Crowtations’ own version of the brand’s musical theme. The feature film Ransom, starring Mel Gibson and directed by Ron Howard, featured the Crowtations performing in their usual Central Park hangout.
