CLEVELAND SKATING CLUB PRESENTS 71st ANNUAL ICE SHOW -- “LIVE EARTH, LIVE ICE”
Olympians and national skating champions join local skaters in a show of fun and artistry

CLEVELAND, OH (April 22, 2008) - An impressive list of Olympians and national skating champions join local skaters at the Cleveland Skating Club's 71st annual Ice Show, “LIVE EARTH, LIVE ICE,” a fun-filled production featuring nearly 150 performers -- hockey players, learn-to-skaters, skilled dancers, figure skaters and recreational skaters in a show of dazzling artistry and pageantry.

The popular show is set for Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cleveland Skating Club (CSC), 2500 Kemper Road in Shaker Heights, just north of Shaker Square.

Guest stars John Zimmerman and Silvia Fontana, 1984 Olympic Bronze Medalist Jozef Sabovcik, 2007 U.S. Bronze Medalist Alissa Czisny and National Junior competitor Jonathan Cassar are scheduled to perform at this year's event.

“LIVE EARTH, LIVE ICE” features a colorful array of brilliant costumes, spectacular lighting and set design along with fun choreography including Mother/Son and Father/Daughter routines. Local skating coach and choreographer Louise Rossbach, who has directed, choreographed and performed with many national and international productions, returns to direct the show.

The “green” theme of the show - working together for the Earth's sustainability - is reflected in the music, set and costumes and was inspired by last summer's Live Earth concerts across the globe. LED lighting will use a fraction of the wattage used at comparable shows, souvenirs include organic t-shirts and grocery tote bags and intermission drinks will be served in biodegradable cups.

Show proceeds will benefit the Green Corps Program of the Cleveland Botanical Garden, an outreach program that sponsors community gardens in urban areas around Cleveland, planted and tended by 40 area youth 13-18 years old, who were chosen from more than 400 applicants. The teens take the gardens from seed to market, planting, tending, harvesting, designing the logos and selling the produce at area farmers' markets.

While the theme is global, CSC has acted locally by supporting the Green Corps and nurturing the greening of the Club, by conducting a campus-wide environmental assessment, using low VOC paint and environmentally friendly carpet and implementing a paper recycling program.

Show Tickets are $25 and may be purchased in advance or on Show nights. For ticket information, contact the Cleveland Skating Club Ice Show Ticket Office, at 216/791-2800, Extension 255 or www.clevelandskatingclub.org.
