Tue, May 6 | 9 PM (8:30 PM door) Indian Jewelry Freedom / Tit $7.00 Tavern | All Ages CLICK FOR MORE INFO In the avant/noise/rock underground, endless shape-shifting has long since become the norm. Witness the sly name changes of (D) Yellow Swans, the constant mutations of the Jewelled Antler Collective, the fluid personnel lineups of bands like Sunburned Hand of the Man, and the rampant intramural collaborations happening virtually anywhere you care to look. Amid this swarm of loose identities the Houston-based outfit Indian Jewelry have been known to take things a step further, actively adding and subtracting musicians in various cities as they tour. This free-form approach puts a premium on communal expression and seat-of-pants invention, but often does so at the expense of any sort of cohesive authorial vision. It's a methodology that makes for a pleasant if somewhat bewildering spin on the group's full-length Invasive Exotics. At the core Indian Jewelry is the threesome Tex Kerschen, Erika Thrasher, Rodney Rodriguez. Renegades to traditional song structure, Indian Jewerly mix drum machine, noise, percussion, loops, dance beats, guitar, keyboards, scraps of metal, and other sounds into an unpredictable mash of aural delights, drones, and melody. Already amassing a swarm of devotees, Indian Jewelry is expanding the concept of song, and the way it is constructed and heard.
