WALK FOR HUNGER
Saturday, May 10, 2008: REGISTER NOW for The Plain Dealer Walk for Hunger, the largest local charity walk in Cuyahoga County! It's an annual 5-K walk through Downtown Cleveland to benefit the 36 hunger centers and 18 hot meal sites of the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland. The funds raised provide more than 500,000 nutritious emergency meals for Cuyahoga County children and others who must depend on emergency food to survive. Throughout the summer children are at a great risk of going hungry every single day because they cannot use school lunches, often their only meal, as a resource for food.
Event Schedule & Details: Mail-in pre-registration must be postmarked by Friday, April 25, 2008. Online pre-registration deadline is Monday, May 5, 2008 at 11:00 p.m. T-shirt pick up and late in-person registration Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Burke Lakefront Airport. If you pre-registered by mail or online and just need to pick up your t-shirt, don't park in the lot, just drive up to the front and come into the airport during lunch (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) or after work (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.). At the event on May 10 beginning at 8:45 am, enjoy free coffee and enjoy a free breakfast! Car Pool and park at Burke Lakefront Airport or the W. 3rd. St. lot (west of the Browns Stadium on the west side of Erieside). Fees will apply. Please bring one dollar bills to help us avoid bottlenecks! Shuttle service will be available courtesy of Hopkins Limousine Service & Motorcars Honda of Cleveland Heights. Onsite/Late registration at Burke Lakefront Airport inside terminal from 8:45 am - 9:45 am & Kick-off Rally at Burke from 9:30 am - 10:00 am. Warm up with Jazzercize and get inspired to walk. Walk for Hunger from 10 - 11 am! 5-K Tour of Downtown Cleveland. Sights include: The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Great Lakes Science Center, Cleveland Browns Stadium, Public Square, The Quicken Loans Arena, the Historic Warehouse District, Gateway, and Playhouse Square. Take a break at The Quicken Loans Arena and enjoy cold bottled water, then cross the finish line at North Coast Harbor (Voinovich Park) and get ready to celebrate at the Finish Line Celebration. Visit our Kids' Fun Tent where kids can make Mother's Day cards that moms will cherish forever (supplies provided). You'll also enjoy entertainment from your favorite characters, clowns, jugglers, and more! Live music, too. Enjoy a free lunch. Shuttle service will be available from North Coast Harbor to both the West 3rd Street and Burke parking lots from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
