The Lit presents “Remembering John O’Brien”
On Saturday, May 24 at 7 p.m., The Lit will screen the Academy Award winning film, Leaving Las Vegas, based on John O’Brien’s novel of the same name. Following the film, John’s sister Erin O’Brien will lead an informal talk. Touching on the myths surrounding John and the film, John’s posthumous works, and the enduring fascination people have with the film and the book. Erin will celebrate her brother’s life and works during what would have been his 48th birthday.
Erin O’Brien writes a regular column, “Rainy Day Woman,” for the Free Times and her articles, features, essays, and political reporting have appeared in The Plain Dealer, angle, Northern Ohio Live, and BroadView Journal. O’Brien’s short fiction also appears in Santi: Lives of Modern Saints (Arrow Press) and Air in the Paragraph Line, Issue 12.
