Brian Davis, world-renowned for masterful images of flowers, will make his first visit to Ohio and to Gallery One, Mentor, on May 30 and 31. His powerhouse florals, some as large as six feet tall, will be featured
through June.
A highly original master painter, Davis has exhibited world-wide. Among his achievements has been commissioned work for The Huntington Library Art Collections and Botanical Gardens. Over the last 20 years, he has created several images especially for exhibitions at The Huntington. His works can also be found in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and New York’s Botanical Gardens.
“Brian’s images leave viewers awestruck,” said Alan Brown, Gallery One president. “His work glows and viewers often ask if there is a light source behind his paintings and giclees.”
And no wonder! Davis’ technique brings his subjects to life with sharpness, color, movement and light. “The light is the real subject of my work,” Davis said. “The flower is the stage, the light is the dancer.”
A new coffee-table book, Brian Davis, Contemporary Master in a Grand Tradition, has just been released and will be available during the Gallery One exhibition. It is the first book dedicated exclusively to Davis’ art and inspiration.
"I'm thrilled that my vision of what is worth painting is now available in a beautiful book so that my collectors can get a more concise sense of who I am and how I think artistically" said Davis.
Davis’ appearances at Gallery One are scheduled for Friday, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. He will lecture informally at 7 p.m., Friday.
From now until the end of May, purchasers of Davis’ originals and prints will receive a free 10” x 10” giclee canvas created for the event — plus a free Brian Davis book. (Museum minis excluded!)
