You won’t have to look far at all for giants at the privately owned Cox Preserve. The American beech trees in this protected forest are massive and one of the rare few, and finest, examples left. Come get a glimpse of what Ohio's pioneers experienced, as most of the forests in Northeast Ohio at the time of European settlement were dominated by beeches. We will also hunt for dwarf salamanders and other miniature critters in a small meandering creek valley that cuts through the preserve as we try to beat the heat and soak up the majesty of the giants.
