The University of Akron School of Music is offering a variety of vocal and instrumental workshops throughout the summer. Designed especially for teachers, these workshops are also open to graduate students, undergraduates, community/church band and choir directors, and those who wish to increase their knowledge of a particular field. This summer's offerings include:
• Contemporary Marching Band Techniques, June 9-11 Guest Lecturer: Dr. Corey Spurlin, Associate Director of Bands, Director, Auburn University Marching Band • Brass Teaching Techniques, June 9-13 • Comprehensive Band Director Workshop, June 16-19 • Finale/Sibelius and Music Technology, June 16-20 • Band Literature Selection, June 23-25 • Music/MIDI and Multimedia, June 23-27 • Beginning Band Basics, June 25-27 • Junior High/Middle School Choral Workshop, July 15-18 • Percussion for the Public School Band Director, July 16-18 • Diction for Vocal Music Educators, July 28-31
All workshops will be held in the School of Music's Guzzetta Hall, 157 University Ave., across from E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall. Pre-registration is encouraged; however walk-ins are accepted.
