FREE Artist Reception:
A free opening reception will be held Friday, July 25 from 6-9:00 p.m. A 30 minute live demonstration in pastel by the artist will start at 7:00 p.m. Light appetizers and a soft bar will be available. Come experience the softer side of nature during Holden’s upcoming art show, Blossoms and Blooms – A Pollinators Paradise. Local artist Britta Franz shares these beautiful pieces that highlight nature in acrylics and pastels, bringing forth many sides to nature’s beauty. The show is a culmination of observation and inspiration for the artist, drawn from nature’s fascinating process of pollination. “Working in acrylics, I can get bold colorful images that jump out to the viewer,” Franz said. “Pastels allow me to show a softer, more detailed style.”
About the artist
Britta Franz draws her inspiration from nature's fascinating process of pollination. The color, contrast and details of nature are highlighted in the pastels of this wonderful artist. Bold, colorful images are achieved through the use of acrylics, while pastels allow for the softer side to show though. Ever since discovering her grandmother’s oil pastels as a child, Franz has shown a passion for the art. Often painting wildlife, landscapes and non traditional florals, much of her inspiration comes directly from nature. A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art, Franz also brings her passion to the community by teaching private and small group art lessons. “It gives me great satisfaction watching students with genuine passion and dedication, grow and develop their talent,” she says.
