Artist Jim Ptacek may hail from northeastern Ohio, but he is now well-recognized throughout the country for his sepiatoned images of favorite landmarks near and far. He will personally open a month-long exhibition of his works at Gallery One, Mentor, on Friday, August 22, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Several new images will be showcased including giant giclee canvases, some more than five feet wide. Of special interest to local residents will be new images of Geneva-on-the-Lake and Mentor. Ptacek began working with Gallery One back in 1983 when his images were paper prints in small sizes, featuring Cleveland area landmarks exclusively. The popularity of those images easily led to requests and commissions from throughout the mid-west. Next came images and collectors from such far-away spots as New Orleans, Orlando and Mobile. Ptacek graduated from the Cooper School of Art where he majored in architectural illustration. His early experiments with photography, lithography and silkscreen printing have been refined through the years, resulting in his distinctive look that is in demand for both residential and commercial applications. Gallery One is located at 7003 Center Street (Route 615) between Routes 90 and 2. The gallery is open Monday thru Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Parking and admission are free. For more information, call 440.255.1200 or 800.621.1141 or visit www.galleryone.com.
