Blind Pig recording artist PETER KARP
“…An underground genius…like Jackson Browne... with a healthy dose of blues too… Karp’s a soulful storyteller, the man can write…” - Blues Revue Magazine
Peter began his career as songwriter, key board player and guitarist sharing the stage with acts like Marshall Crenshaw, Mink Deville, The Stray Cats, George Thorogood, and David Johansen and even scored a regional radio hit.
But, Peter walked away from a commercially promising music career to travel the world and raise a family. Along the way he worked with musicians Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, Don Henley, Richie Havens, Ric Ocasik and Jackson Brown. He visited the Amazon, Paris, Tokyo and Mexico.
Once his wanderlust was satiated, Peter decided it was time to return to the performance arena. He assembled The Roadshow Band, and gained attention when his song, "These Are the Moments" was used by JVC for a national television campaign. Since then Peter and the band have sold out rooms from New York to Nashville, and headlined with or opened for such people as Levon Helm, John Mayall, and Pinetop Perkins. Peter’s release “The Turning Point,” featured former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor, who joined Peter for a 10-show, sold-out North Atlantic tour.
Karp’s rootsy Americana-blues sound garnered praise from Blues Revue Magazine, Billboard, the New York Daily News, The Gannett Press, John Mayall and DJs at blues stations across the northeast. It’s only a matter of time before Peter secures his rightful place on the national scene.
