The debut feature by Oberlin College grad Christopher Zalla is a Spanish-language thriller (with metaphysical overtones) that won the grand jury prize for drama at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. It follows two Mexican teenagers who are smuggled into America and dropped in one of the crummier sections of NYC. One has come to look for his restaurateur father, and he carries a letter with papa’s address. The other steals the letter with the intention of passing himself off as the man’s long-lost son. Christopher Zalla will answer questions after the screening. Cleveland premiere. Subtitles. 35mm. 110 min. Special thanks to Steve Volk, Oberlin College.
