Don Henson: In Fluid Space The Sculpture Center, 1834 E. 123rd St, Cleveland, OH 44106 January 9- February 14, 2009 Opening Jan 9, 5:30- 8, Artist Talk at 6:30 Euclid Gallery
The lathe turned wood and machined aluminum sculptures of Don Henson [add this link: http://donhenson.net/] synthesize the historically formal aesthetics of object making with the contemporary popular culture genre of science fiction. Working in a very structured technological manner, with a high level of craftsmanship, Henson makes and combines forms both abstractly organic and industrially mechanical. He is “interested in exploring the possibilities of new forms generated by the synthesis of what we know and have and what we dream and create.” The resultant sculpture, in the words of the artist, “creates a new unclassifiable organism, producing an intellectual tension and confronting the viewer with the unknown.”
All events at The Sculpture Center are free of charge.
