The Human Fund is pleased to present the third annual “Geezeroo” Fundraiser Concert.  This year the concert will be held at the House of Blues at 308 Euclid Avenue on October 24, 2008.  The “Geezeroo” concert, tagged as the Bonnaroo for old geezers, was created to bring music from the 60s and 70s to Cleveland while raising money for arts education programs for Cleveland youth.  The Human Fund has raised over a half million dollars for art education programs over the past three years through their annual fundraising events.

With two bands from this year’s lineup having played at Woodstock in 1969, Human Fund Co-founders Andy Rayburn and Heather Guess thought a Woodstock theme would work well for the event.  The lineup includes, Big Brother and the Holding Company (the band that played behind Janis Joplin), Quicksilver Messenger Service, and Jefferson Starship as the headliner.  All of the proceeds from the event will be directed to the All-City Arts program in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.

As with every Human Fund event, the founders and board members like to involve student beneficiaries in the evening program.  Students from the Cleveland schools will open the concert with a Woodstock inspired performance.  There will also be an art exhibition and silent auction of student artwork.  Not only do the events raise funds for the students, but they also stimulate student research into various events, musicians, or artists of a certain time period.  The artwork on view will have political and social overtones.  Students submitting work have been asked to draw connections to the political and social unrest of the late 60s and early 70s as they might relate to the historic political and social changes taking place today, from a country at war, to this year’s election.

The second floor of the House of Blues will accommodate Human Fund V.I.P. ticket holders, the art exhibition, cash bar and cash food areas.  V.I.P. tickets can be purchased in advance for $300.  Please call 440.893.7529 to reserve your V.I.P tickets or visit www.the-human-fund.org.  Ticket sales will also open to the public on September 2, 2008 at 10:00 AM.
