Join us on a hike through the Cottonwood Hollow and Cash/Hertrick preserves as we explore the links between rocks, soils and plants. We will examine the layers of rock that outcrop in waterfalls and river banks, learn about their mineralogical composition, and how they break down into the components of soil. We will hike around these natural areas and examine soil cores from various stands of trees to see how the soil types vary.
