Tokens and Treasures: Dine and Design Jewelry Workshop Instructor: Nicole McGee July 9, 2009, 6-9pm $40 (price includes appetizers) location: Mexico Lindo Restaurant & Lounge This class will explore the process of finding meaning in small shiny pieces that lie around us and those that hide in the corners of our cupboards and trinket boxes (single earrings, broken key chains, small artifacts from childhood). We will make jewelry and art that tell our stories from reclaimed pieces of life around us and share the process of re-using, re-purposing, and re-creating as a collective class experience. Nicole McGee is a self taught artist of found objects. She re-uses paper, wire, and small things to re-create them into original and beautiful things. She believes there are no errors in art, and letting go of precision and 'rules' is opening up to creativity. In addition to found-object artistry, she is a freelance grant writer, adjunct faculty at Tri-C, a graduate student at CSU, a swimmer, a dog-walker, and a seeker of objects to be found in the world around us.
