Description: Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens hosts the 13th Annual Akron Cup Vintage Base Ball* Exhibition on Sunday, July 19, 2009 from 10 am-5pm.
The day showcases base ball as it was played in the 1860s, and where the ideals of the original game are featured: true sportsmanship and friendly competition. Ten clubs compete and two “matches” take place simultaneously throughout the day. “The Unexpected Party” provides period-appropriate music and a variety of family-friendly "vintage sports" activities, including croquet, clock golf and side-saddle horseback riding demonstrations complete the day. Families are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs to watch on Stan Hywet’s Great Meadow.
Admission to the Akron Cup is included in regular admission fees for a “Gardens and Grounds” admission.
