False Confessions: A Juvenile Injustice

Wed., July 22, noon, Max Wohl Civil Liberties Center, 4506 Chester Avenue, Cleveland, free, ACLU of Ohio 2009 Brown Bag Lecture Series

Geoffrey Mearns, dean of Cleveland State University's Marshall College of Law, will discuss his experience as co-counsel on the case of Anthony Harris, a twelve-year-old boy who was wrongfully convicted of murder based on a false confession. He will discuss the role of the police and the prosecutor in extracting the false confession and his work as an attorney during the appeal process.
