Among the hundreds of lots is a breathtaking Japanese scene attributed to John La Farge (American, 1835-1910). We believe this watercolor is dedicated to his Japanese valet, Awoki, who travelled with La Farge extensively until the time of his death. Another outstanding piece is a lithograph on Auvergne handmade paper by Jean Dubuffet (French, 1901-1985). In a recent Sotheby’s auction, a Dubuffet gouache “Paris Plaisir III” overshot its estimate and sold for a hammer price of $445,000. Also featured is a fabulous American Renaissance sofa and side chair attributed to John Jelliff (1813-1893). This vintage furniture boasts intricate designs that were originally hand carved from walnut.
