Apollo's Fire: Mediterranean Nights
Thursday, November 5, 7:30 p.m. A new version of the program that caused a sensation in 2005, featuring captivating Spanish and Italian love songs, castanets and driving foot percussion. Nell Snaidas draws into her world of 17th-century ballads, while Spanish dancer Steve Player sets sparks flying with daring, dramatic improvisations. Passionate sonatas by Merula, Uccellini and Castello reach a redhot finish with music director Jeannette Sorrell's arrangement of Boccherini's Fandango Quintet.
