For Hikers and History Buffs: Canal Fever comes to the Learned Owl Book Shop
Want to learn more about the Ohio & Erie Canal? On Thursday, November 5th from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., you can meet the editors and illustrator of Canal Fever: The Ohio & Erie Canal, from Waterway to Canalway at the Learned Owl Book Shop (204 N. Main St, Hudson). Join editors, Lynn Metzger and Peg Bobel, and illustrator Chuck Ayers, for refreshments and questions about the canal’s past, present and future.
Composed of original essays on the Ohio & Erie Canal, Canal Fever brings together research and writing from historians, archaeologists, and other canal enthusiasts. It includes many voices from the past -- those of canalers, travelers, and immigrants, as well as current interviews with the people involved in the recent revitalization of the canal. Photographs accompany the text, along original maps and drawings by artist Chuck Ayers. Canal Fever is published by Kent State University Press.
