Peter Tork (of The Monkees)
& Shoe Suede Blues -
Long before Peter Tork became a legendary part of the prefab phenomenon known as the "The Monkees," he was a well-respected musician / artist in the New York folk and blues scene. Peter's gift for playing a plethora of instruments (bass, guitar, keyboard, banjo and french horn) generated high demand for his services as a sideman / back-up artist. Peter knocked around in the mid-60's, hanging and performing with the likes of John Phillips, Stephen Stills, Dave Van Ronk, Van Dyke Parks and Arthur Lee. Music legend Jimi Hendrix jammed with Peter on several occasions, calling Peter - "The most talented Monkee."
Peter realized a real love affair with the blues sometime during the 1990's. The result of that love is called Shoe Suede Blues. His Shoe Suede Blues band-mates Richard Mikuls, David Bronson, and Arnold Jacks have shared the stage with some of the most influential recording artists of the last 50 years: Ray Charles, B.B. King, Chaka Kahn, and The Righteous Brothers - just to mention a few. Peter Tork and Shoe Suede Blues delivers a heartfelt soulful, uplifting and quite unforgettable mixture of blues, rock and his Monkees hits, some of which are re-worked in a fresh and interesting way. www.petertork.com. Josh Stevens opens the show. Tickets are $15.00. 9pm.
