Celebrate Chinese New Year with Shanghai Circus

CLEVELAND, OH - Come celebrate Chinese New Year, the Year of the Tiger, with the hit entertainers of The New Shanghai Circus in “The Harv Concert Hall” at Mountaineer Casino. There will be two spellbinding performances on Saturday February 27 at 7pm and Sunday, February 28 at 3pm.

Mountaineer Casino Race Track and Resort is only 85 miles southeast of Cleveland, Ohio.

Columbus, Ohio’s own Wah Lum Kung Fu will open the show with the Dragon & Lion Dance performances at Mountaineer Casino to ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune to the delight of participants. This is the first time, ever, this spectacle has been seen here.

Quoted from the New York Times: “Feats of circus art that reach liberally breathtaking heights of skill… The New Shanghai Circus is providing entertainment in abundance.” The New Shanghai Circus has won more Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals in domestic and international circus competitions to date than any other Chinese acrobatic company. Breathtaking and polished to perfection, the singular skills performed by the New Shanghai Circus have their roots in everyday lives of the village peasants, farmers and craftsman of the Han Dynasty.”

The New Shanghai Circus acts include performers using their feet to juggle rugs, jars, umbrellas and even a table; or using strengths and balance, contortionists gracefully bend themselves into beautiful and bewildering positions; or doing different Kung Fu maneuvers including tumble, flip, jump and kick; or balancing over 100 glasses on her arm, legs and head; or bouncing on an elastic tight rope while executing flips and turns in the air and many others.
