Cleveland Artists Foundation presents "Black and White: Geometric Abstractions of Edwin Mieczkowski" which will run from May 18 - July 28, 2012.
Mieczkowski, Ernst Benkert, and Francis Hewitt formed the Anonima Group in the 1960s, and together they developed strict methods of creation and exploration of visual perception that continued to inform Mieczkowski's work long after the group dissolved. This exhibition will examine Mieczkowski's black and white works from his time spent with the Anonima Group as well as his constructions, sculpture, and later paintings. It will also introduce Mieczkowski's color works, relating them to his black and white compositions.
Cleveland Artists Foundation is located at 17801 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood, Ohio, inside the Beck Center for the Arts. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 1:00-5:00 pm, and until 8:00 pm on Friday and Saturday Beck Center performance nights, as well as by appointment. For more information, visit our website at www.clevelandartists.org or call us at 216-227-9507.
