On Sunday afternoon after the opening reception, Proximity will host painter Paul Yanko in the gallery. He will discuss his work, influences, and studio practice through a dialogue with curator Alex Kelly and the audience - we hope you can join us for what will be an enlightening and compelling event.
Yanko shows extensively around the country and his work is part of public and private collections, including the Cleveland Clinic, Case Western Reserve University School of Business, and The Greenville County Museum of Art. He received his BFA in illustration from the Cleveland Institute of Art and his MFA in painting from Kent State University. He currently teaches in the Visual Arts Department at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville, South Carolina, where he has been since 2004. He previously taught at the Cleveland Institute of Art and Kent State University, and in 2002, he was the recipient of an Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Grant.
