In 2011, Cellar Door was named “Best Record Label” in Cleveland Scene’s Best of Cleveland, featured on NPR, and released Cellar Door Records Volume III to wide acclaim. In 2012, Cellar Door opened a physical space in the Loftworks building downtown, which houses a performance space and Cleveland-only record shop, and also launched a Cleveland-centered arts and cultural blog, www.cellardoorcle.com, which continues to grow.
“With every new endeavor we take on,” said Justin Markert, “our motivation remains the same- to open the eyes and ears of everyone in Cleveland, not just those ‘in-the-know,’ to how many great bands, artists, and creatives there are in this city. Cellar Door Rendezvous will serve as an incredible catalyst to do just that.”
______
Cellar Door was born when close friends Rick Fike and Justin Markert opened a coffee shop and music venue in the east suburb of Madison Ohio. After selling the physical coffee shop, Cellar Door evolved and re-emerged with the addition of of Adam Butcher, in 2007 as a record label and booking company known for releasing local music compilation albums, a handful of individual releases, and booking a series of “Cellar Door Presents” shows at the Grog Shop and Beachland. After gaining new levels of exposure in 2011, 2012 saw another evolution of Cellar Door. With the additions of Allie Markert and Nikki Delamotte to the Cellar Door team, a Cleveland based arts and cultural blog was launched, as well as the opening of a performance space/Cleveland-only record store.
