Symphony No. 8 in F Major, Op.93
As one of Beethoven’s most concentrated symphonic endeavors, the Coriolan Overture is an intensely dramatic piece which deals with the life and death of the legendary Roman general Gnaius Marcius Coriolanus.
Concerto for violin, cello and piano, commonly known as the triple concerto, is the only concerto Beethoven ever completed for more than one solo instrument. Annie Fullard, violin, a member of the famed Cavani String Quartet, in residence at The Cleveland Institute of Music. Tanya Ell, cello, a chamber musician, soloist, and member of The Cleveland Orchestra. Shuai Wang, piano, an accomplished concerto soloist, recitalist and chamber musician.
Beethoven fondly referred to Symphony No. 8 as “my little Symphony in F.” The symphony is generally light-hearted and in many places cheerfully loud and often provides listeners with musical jokes.
Concert is free and open to the public. http://www.heightschamberorchestra.org/
