Pulse: Melissa Etheridge & Contemporary Youth Orchestra

June 7, 2017

The Contemporary Youth Orchestra will perform a one night only performance with Melissa Etheridge on June 7, 2017 at 7:30pm at Severance Hall. The organization has teamed with the singer/songwriter legend to produce an intimate live event that will feature rarely heard tracks from the singer’s multi-decade musical career.

The evening will feature music from Melissa’s incredible catalogue backed by the 115 piece Contemporary Youth Orchestra, a 50 person choir and led by founder and Music Director Liza Grossman. From the very beginning, Melissa Etheridge stormed onto the American rock scene in 1988 with the release of her critically acclaimed self-titled debut album. Known for her confessional lyrics and raspy, smoky vocals, Etheridge has remained one of America’s favorite female singer-songwriters for more than two decades.

CYO’s annual Rock the Orchestra series is currently in its eighteenth year. In the past, the group has welcomed artists such as Tommy Shaw, Ben Folds, Graham Nash, Bootsy Collins, and Jon Anderson of Yes.

“Melissa Etheridge is one of the most influential artists of our time,” says Ms. Grossman. “I have envisioned this show with Melissa and CYO for more than a decade. This performance will influence not only the talented musicians in CYO, but the Cleveland community and the critical role that music education plays in our lives.”

Tickets for Melissa Etheridge and the Contemporary Youth Orchestra are limited and available online at cyorchestra.org/buytickets, the Severance Hall box office or charge by phone at 216-231-1111 or 800-686-1141.
