Old Time Radio Night at Loganberry Books

May 18, 2017 7PM to 8:15PM

From Roughly 1930-1950 Radio Drama and Comedies played as much a part of our culture as Television does today. But a radio program, for the actors, didn't take as much time out of their schedule. So it was the norm for starts like Henry Fonda, Barbra Stanwyck, Myrna Loy and Jimmy Stewart to have a radio show. So....

Join us every 3rd Thursday at 7 p.m. for Old Time Radio Night at Loganberry Books, where we'll celebrate the charm and nostalgia of old-time radio programs.

Trying something a little different this month, we will be watching the film version of the Great McGinty next week, but this week we will be listening to the radio version. It was the norm in those days to have any number of anthology shows do films, with mostly original cast, a year or two after they were released. In this case it'll be from The Academy Award Theater for 1946, which much of the original Cast.

Afterwards we'll probably travel over to one of the fine local establishments on Larchmere for drinks or dinner.
