Songwriting Made Simple - a student matinee concert

May 18, 2018 10AM to 11:00 AM

Friday, May 18, 2018 at 10:00am
Songwriting Made Simple
featuring Jonathan Kingham & Ryan Shea Smith

Cirigliano Studio Theatre of Stocker Arts Center

You may remember Jonathan and Ryan from one of their other visits to Stocker Arts Center. On all of their visits they have performed with area students who have written amazing new songs with them. We’re bringing them back again by popular demand to write more new songs with students who will perform with them at this concert.

With diverse musical styles ranging from folk, pop and jazz to R & B, a Jonathan Kingham and Ryan Shea Smith concert is all about great songs! Jonathan wrote his first song in 1996 and since then, has won 1st place in The Unisong International Song Contest, has twice placed in the top five of the John Lennon Song contest, won 1st Place in the USA Songwriting Competition in the Folk Category as well as the Overall Grand Prize out of 33,000 entries, and was awarded First Place in the Gospel category of the ISC songwriting contest. His singing has been featured in films, soap operas and on “Felicity.” Based out of Nashville he splits his time between touring the country and writing, recording and producing. He has toured with such diverse acts as Julio Iglesias Jr. and Glen Phillips of Toad the Wet Sprocket. In addition to his solo career, Jonathan currently plays keyboard and steel guitar for Toad the Wet Sprocket.

Seattle native Ryan Shea Smith is also a veteran songwriter and recipient of multiple songwriting awards. His musical skill has been honed through jazz studies at the University of Washington and a steady touring schedule. He is known for his incomparable singing voice and has an impressive command of keyboard and guitar. Ryan’s sophomore release “Stay Awhile” is a John Lennon song contest winner.
