Serves as lead engineer for preparation and accountability of project deliverables ensuring compliance with all company, client and industry standards.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

 

1.     Assists Engineering or Architectural Project Manager in developing project, scope, schedules, and staffing needs and monitors work progress to ensure established project requirements are met for all phases of project development. 

2.     Develops work plan for completing the project including planning, directing and monitoring the work of the project team, and developing and monitoring budgets and schedules ensuring completion of construction documents at milestone dates. 

3.     Serves as lead engineer, and develops and reviews the development of details, special systems design, plans and specifications from team members for engineering components of the project in accordance with project design, schedules and budget and the coordination with the specification and details of other disciplines and specified materials.

4.     Solicits technical advice and guidance from Project Manager on complex projects, and assists in coordinating and scheduling the work activities of the Design Engineers and Technicians.

5.     Serves as Project Manager for less complex projects reporting directly to the Department Head of Engineering adhering to established budget and schedule.

6.     Provides project status reports to Project Manager and/or Department Head, identifies performance challenges and seeks advice in problem resolution.

7.     Serves as primary contact and coordinates project details with other disciplines and outside contractors ensuring effective communication to team members.

8.     Ensures quality control for all phases of project design identifying performance issues and developing and recommending design modifications working with Project Team.  Coordinates with Project Manager all drawings as developed by other disciplines and consultants including redline coordination between outside disciplines.

9.     Performs final review of documents and presents completed documents to Project Manager for stamping release.  Coordinates submittals to clients, regulatory agencies and utility companies ensuring technical appropriateness of correspondence and drawings.

10.  Participates in managing bids including attending pre-bid meetings, soliciting and reviewing bids and preparing tabulations and recommendations for award as directed by the Project Manager.

11.  Assists with business development and planning.  Assists Marketing department with the preparation of proposals and prepares letter proposals.

12.  Manages construction administration including performing periodic job site observations and punch list inspections.

13.  Maintains a professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.

14.  Maintains confidentiality of Company and Client information.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education, Training and/or Experience

 

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of two to five years engineering experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics

 

1.     Developed knowledge of engineering design and construction administration processes.

2.     Strong supervisory skills.

3.     Knowledge of budgeting and expense control.

4.     Ability to read and communicate 3-dimensional site conditions and requirements in a 2-dimensional format. 

5.     College level engineering/mathematical skills.

6.     High degree of initiative and independent judgment.

7.     Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.

8.     Ability to communicate with all levels.

9.     Effective interpersonal skills; ability to effectively read, write and verbally communicate in English. 

10.  Able to prioritize multiple projects.

11.  Detail oriented; organized.

12.  Computer skills; word processing and spreadsheet software capabilities.  Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCADD applications and engineering applications software.

Professional Engineer registration

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Previous industry and project supervisory experience.
