PURPOSE: The Program Director of Open Doors Academy provides leadership to the staff, students, and families of Open Doors, Inc. The role includes the ability to motivate, influence, and shape individuals in order to assure continuous social, emotional and behavioral development of middle school youth. To collaborate and work with the families, school, and community to further enhance the development of each individual child. Indicators of competency fall in the areas of leadership, planning and improving curriculum and instruction, policy and procedures, inner personal relations, personnel practices, and group management.
The Program Director, works closely with the Executive Director and other site program directors to ensure that the quality of programming is carried throughout the organization. The Program Directors maintain a cooperative relationship with the principals, other school personnel, other related service agencies and parent. The overall responsibility of the Program Director is to administer the daily programming of Open Doors, Inc. while maintaining a strong student base and collaborations with family, school, and community.
The following functions are included within the general job description for Program Director: MAJOR FUNCTIONS: Oversight and Leadership Responsibilities Ability to oversee multiple activities and multi task in administrative and programming responsibilities. Provide guidance and support to support staff in daily implementation of programming Train staff in carrying out yearly enrichment curriculum. Evaluate and adjust yearly curriculum to meet the needs of the youth served. Complete monthly programming reports indicating current demographics, programming highlights, changes or concerns) Meet with School Personnel on a regular and consistent basis Responsible for recruitment and retention of students at each site Work in collaboration with community partners in further strengthening the programming of the organization Complete curriculums for parent education classes, tutoring programs, volunteer recruitment and retention, and alumni. Responsible for meeting with families on a bi-weekly basis, determining current needs, and supporting families through middle school transitions Manage relationships with parents, staff, school personnel, and students Maintain and track annual programming budget Assist Executive Director and other Program Directors in further growing the program through cultivation of new relationships in the community Provide monthly programming reports Programming Set up bi-monthly field trips, community service trips, and other outside activities, organize transportations, permission slips, and fees Organize quarterly leadership workshops (4 throughout the year) that focus on Peer leadership, role modeling, communication skills, and conflict resolution) Assist in planning the seven year service learning program, incorporating local, regional and global service learning programs. Provide support and direction to programming staff on a daily basis With support from Executive Director organize and implement quarterly family events Maintain all standards of excellence as established by the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services Organize and facilitate monthly student advisory board meetings, alumni dinners, Implement daily programming five days a week coordinating staff and students around various activities
Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Education, Social Work, or related field. Masters Degree preferred 2 to 5 years experience working with children, preferably experience working with middle school adolescents Previous experience in program management, curriculum development, multi tasking, measurements, and group management Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Strong team player, ability to delegate work and coordinate with others Strong interpersonal skills, ability to relate to middle school adolescents and families of various backgrounds Strong organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to details. High Energy Committed passion to making a difference in the lives of middle school youth. Willingness to work weekends and evenings when needed
