IF YOU LIKE TO BREATHE CLEAN AIR AND LOVE THE MOUNTAINS -- MAKE IT YOUR JOB!
You’ve been thinking about it, and you want to do something different this year. You want to enjoy yourself and your work without cubicles, coffee runs, carpal tunnel syndrome, and neckties. You’re looking for a job that doesn’t ask you to be someone else from 9 to 5. You want to be yourself and you want to make a difference.
At Ohio Citizen Action, we have a different job. A job that fully recognizes and utilizes your personal power to create positive change. A cool job that could become a life-changing career.
We're hiring organizers for our Cleveland campaign staff today. Be part of a team of like-minded individuals who are here for more than just a paycheck. We've been working on exciting campaigns to clean up the Mittal Steel plant, and protect the Appalachian Mountains. The steel mill is that dirty plant right near the new Steelyard Commons shopping complex, downtown and the Flats. The Appalachian Mountaintops are being blown off (470 of them so far) to mine cheap coal.
Ohio Citizen Action is dedicated to informing and mobilizing people to make change on these important issues. We believe that people have a right to know and a right to act on issues that fundamentally affect our lives and future. We believe grassroots organizing—canvassing—is the best way to affect positive change. Our job is to communicate with people and motivate them to get involved.
If you've graduated from High School (or have a GED) plus solid communication skills and a genuine interest in environmental, political, or social justice issues, call us today. Schedule an appointment with our staff director. If you choose to work with us full time, after three months you will be eligible for health coverage, dental and vision, and vacation time. Advancement opportunities, leadership training and travel are available for qualified candidates.
We work 2-10 p.m., Monday-Friday, and our office is located in downtown Cleveland, near Tower City. We're on the busline and a short walk from the nearest Rapid stop - so less of your paycheck goes in your gas tank.
