Our client is currently in need of a Network Engineer for a large data center move. The Network Engineer will work on a team of engineers that represent network (Cisco) switching infrastructure, distributed systems servers, and physical layer planning and implementation in support of the migration of over 1,000 servers from one data center to a brand new data center facility.
• Perform detailed planning with various groups to determine optimal move/migration strategy for servers and applications.
• Provide physical installation and provisioning of layer 1 technologies and solutions at time of migration.
• Create and maintain very detailed and accurate documentation of physical network environment.
• Coordination and installation of fiber connectivity between network device.
• Coordination with vendors and support personnel.
• Quickly troubleshoot issues during conversions.
• Provide high level of customer service to clients data center migration project team.
• Planning Server and App Movement.
In order to be considered for employment, the qualified candidate must meet the following criteria: Must have experience with Fiber Termination/Plug-in and understand Fiber Plant.
• CCNA/CCNP certification preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in a Network Support and Implementation environment.
• Bachelor degree in computer science and/or business, or the work experience equivalent.
• Knowledge of Cisco hardware and software platforms.
• Past experience with VLAN configuration, 802.1q trunking, and spanning tree.
• Good understanding of layer 2 VLANs and layer 3 SVIs.
• Knowledge of distributed systems (Windows/Unix/Linux).
• Basic understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP.
• Good understanding of load balancing and high availability.
• Knowledge of layer 1 design and implementation best practices.
• Basic knowledge of IP communications.
• Basic understanding of routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).
• Experience in the support of multiple Enterprise Data Centers.
• Ability to deliver on detailed project requirements and tasks.
• Familiar with network implementation best practices.
• Detail oriented and organized.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Able to work within a customer oriented, positive team environment.
