Great Pho
We have been to several of the Vietnamese restaurants in the Cleveland area and this is our favorite for Pho. Their salt-baked squid is awsome as well! I love the interior, it is simple and understated. No loud colors and plastic flowers here!

Cravings make me drive!
I've been to #1 Pho about five times in the past year after finding it on the net. The first time I had the pho, I knew I was hooked for good! The broth is sweet and savory and the pieces of meat are tender and lean. I always leave with a huge amount of leftovers for $8! The lotus root salad and pork rolls are also fantastic. The staff is very attentive, always checking on what you need and the meals come out quick. The restaurant itself is very simple and well kept. I get cravings for Pho so bad, I drive the 20 minutes downtown!

I like it but they insulted me with serving of inedible gritle
Since I have eaten at #Pho a dozen or so times in the past 3 months, I can say that the food is usually pretty good. In fact, the Lotus Root Salad is simply wonderful. However, the lunch I ate at #Pho today may keep me away for a long time. It's hard to tolerate unapologetic, gross inconsistency in food. After all, this is not the only Pho joint in town.
From time to time I have felt that some aspect of my meal at #Pho could have been better. For instance, on a few occasions the side plate of sprouts, leaves and peppers served with my Pho seemed a bit wilted and old. But the overall deliciousness of the Pho itself allowed forgiveness.
Today I ordered a large bowl of Pho Tai Nam - noodle soup with beef brisket and rare beef. I've had this a few times before and enjoyed it. The brisket is usually a little fatty, but meaty and tender as well. Not so today. Today every chunk of brisket in the broth was totally inedible. The brisket was nothing but unappetizing chunks of gristle with nary a speck of lean. I removed these large inedible chunks of waste from my soup and pointed them out to my server who simply told me that sometimes that's what you get. Sorry - this was gristle that nobody would want to eat and should have been trimmed and discarded instead of served to a (former) regular customer.
I suppose that I should mention that I also found a stray hunk of tripe in my soup, even though tripe isn't one of the ingredients in the variety of Pho that I ordered.
My recommendation is that a better bowl of Pho can always be found next door, across 31st Street at Superior Pho (back of building). Superior Pho always uses tasty, tender, trimmed meat.

great food - good prices
I travel to cleveland about once a month on business and generally stay in downtown area - I read about this place and decided to try it - well it is one of my main stays now when I am here - sometimes eat in sometimes take out - always great. Most often get an appetizer (favorite is the shrimp on sugar cane) then a small(?) serving of #1 or #2 pho. So delicious I always gasp on the first taste. Try this place - eat in service is very efficient too.

Despite its popularity -- by the time it had been open for a few months, #1 Pho was already the number-one lunchtime dining destination for downtown's suits - patrons believe the Vietnamese restaurant is something of a secret, a fabulous out-of-the-way spot they'll take you to if they deem you worthy. That Pho is able to be so quietly hot is perhaps owing to the nature of the restaurant itself: Its clean, contemporary look is offset by food that is at once understated and exploding with taste. The large menu features broken rice dishes, chicken, beef and seafood specialties and of course, pho, the namesake noodle bowls.
