After spending $200 plus and terrible service I (we) will not return. Where is good service anymore? A party of 4 including me went for dinner and got the wrong drinks, the wrong appetizers and a Martini in a water glass, it was not worth the 2.5 hours we had to wait for our food, not due to it being busy, but results of terrible service. While walking out the door, we mentioned what terrible service we had to the waiter and he replied, "Oh, really?" I'm over Aroma! The owner asked us how it was and after us telling him it was a long wait, he turned away. Good bye Aroma!

Usually when we want great, authentic Italian food, we go to Windsor, Canada's Little Italy. Now we have finally found a comparable restaurant in our own neighborhood. The sauce is exquisite. I had the veal parmigiana and my husband had penne in a tomato cream sauce with sausage. Both dishes were outstanding. The veal was so tender and the breading was light so that you could actually taste the veal. This restaurant is definitely on our list of repeats. We almost missed the wonderful dining experience because of some of the reviews. I am so glad that we ignored them.

Located in a small but quaint space in a historic building in Avon Lake, the ambiance of Aroma is nice but nothing outstanding. The salad was such an ordinary offering of lettuce & shredded carrots that had is not had some garbanzo beans added, I would have thought it came from a bag. Our party had to wait until after the salad was served until we received any bread, although that was good. The entrees were okay but nothing exceptional. It didn't appear the air conditioning was on even though it was a warm evening, so the doors were left open. The result was an over abundance of flies. You spend a good deal of the time fighting to keep them off your food. That alone doesn't make the meal too appealing. The young servers were attentive though. Overall, I was not impressed at all.

Linguine and meatballs - pretty standard fare for an Italian restuarant. But at 6:30 on a Saturday night less than an hour and a half after opening, our waiter informed us they had run out of meatballs. They also were out of the next item on the menu. It would have been a courteous gesture to inform us BEFORE we perused the menu of the unavailable items perhaps while he was rhyming off the evening's special offerings. How disappointing and unprepared for Sat. night diners!

I went to this restaurant since I live in Avon Lake and heard good things about it. However, to my chagrin my wife and I had a terrible experience. The waitress was totally rude and even rolled her eyes when I asked for change (gave her 2 $20 for a $25 tab), that was the final straw.

My date and I discovered Aroma by accident. I am so glad we did! We had the artichoke, sea scallop appetizer and it was fabulous! For my main entree I tried the fettuccine with meatballs. The meatballs were the best I have ever had at a restaurant. They reminded me of my Italian Grandma's cooking. We shared tirimusu for dessert, awesome! The service was very good, and the atmosphere was nice too. We'll definitely be back!

A few years ago, a stay in Rome almost ruined us forever on America's Italian restaurants. Occasionally, however, a place comes along that brings back memories of the Forum, the Vatican and those death-defying Vespa rides in between, and in Avon Lake, that place is Aroma. The Eternal City comes to this lakeside town by way of authentic eats like insalatina Caprese (an olive-oil topped tomato-and-mozzarella salad), saltimbocca (""jump-in-mouth,"" a Roman specialty of prosciutto-topped veal) and all manner of firm, tasty pastas. Eating light? Try the Italian wedding soup, with tender meatballs and soft strands of spinach suspended in a flavorful broth. But we recommend eschewing any diet for the tiramisu, so moist it nearly disintegrates at the touch of a fork. Wonderful service, an extensive wine list and choice cocktails - including limoncello, Italy's ubiquitous lemon liqueur - makes the meal one of perfezione.
