Regularly Delighted!

My business brings me to the Rocky River area 4 times each year. Dinner at King Wah's is already a tradition, and we look forward to it everytime. We always appreciate the extra attention given by the proprietor and the wait staff. Any special requests are met with curtesy. The food is excellent and the prices are reasonable. If I lived closer by, I would certainly visit more often. If you like Chinese dining, you will love King Wah's!

DISAPPOINTED

I recently ordered take out wonton soup and it was very, very, very bland. No flavor whatsoever. As I was waiting for my order a man came to pick up his order and noticed he was given white rice. When he mentioned nicely about the rice to the tall oriental woman behind the bar she practically chopped his head off and yelled - you must specify you want fried rice - in a very stern voice and stormed off. The man was so apologetic I felt sorry for him. He should have said - well excuuuuuuuuuuse me!. He was just too nice to that snotty woman.

Great Night of Dinning

Went there last weekend with friends and it was packed. The food and service were great, we really enjoy the dishes on the Chefs special menu. - The Pad Thai is the best in the city. Everybody was friendly including the host.

Bad service, bad food

We went to King Wah yesterday, on Mother's Day but only because my two favorite restaurants were crowded. King Wah was not crowded and had several open tables. We were not greeted right away and in fact, were ignored. We waited a while when a man finally gave us some menus and led us to a table. He did not smile or seems even the least bit friendly. Our waitress asked us if we wanted anything to drink. Since water was already at the table we smiled and said our water was all we wanted. She left and came back, (NO KIDDING) 15 minutes later to take our order. While we waited for her to come back I noticed the two ladies who were seated after us promptly received a complimentary bowl of shrimp chips. My daughter ordered lo mein and received something different. Since she was very hungry she ate it without complaint. I ordered vegetable mu shu. The wraps tasted odd and stale. The vegetable portion had an undertaste of something that had been frozen a loooooooong time. My daughter said the same of hers. My son liked his pepper steak and my husband liked the lemon chicken even though it looked pretty greasy to me. Our waitress never came back to check and see if we were satisfied or needed anything else. The restaurant was not crowded where she would have been too busy to do so. I eat out a lot and never have I had such poor service and terrible tasting food!! When our check was hastily brought to us we tried to ask two waiters if we were to bring it up to the register or heaven forbid, wait for our slow server to take it up. We opted to take it up ourselves. When asked how our food was we simply said "okay." The woman ringing up our charge obviously didn't care that we found things only "okay" and said nothing else to us. She was the only friendly person there. I even have my doubts as to whether our waitress even spoke English.........very dismaying! In the middle of the night I woke up with stomach craps and a needed trip to the bathroom. I'm experiencing the same thing today. I just wish I would've read these reviews before but as I said, the two excellent restaurants I preferred going to were very crowded. I have gone to King Wah in the past when it was so good but now it's gone down hill and I can see why......stale food and poor, slow service. This place should throw in the towel and close.

The Best Chinese Food in the Cleveland Area!

My wife and I have been regular customers since 2005, and in all of those years we have never had a bad meal. We know must of the waitresses by name and they know us as well. Their service is friendly and efficient every single time. The food is OUTSTANDING! Try the Chinese Steak, Mongolian Beef or the Hunan Shrimp. These dishes never fail to make my eyes roll in delight. The sauces at King Wah are spectacular from dish to dish and always consistently good. I can't recommend this restaurant any higher. You won't be disappointed!

A Great Dining Experience

Food is great, service is good, attitude is friendly, hostess remembers my name, my order, and my drink.....I have just been coming here once or twice a month for the last two years.....The parking is another issue.

Back at the Top of Our List

We frequented King Wah some 20 years ago but drifted away for no apparent reason. The last year or so we have drifted back and find it better than ever. Yes, the prices have gone up, but so has the quality and quantity of the food. The service is always pleasant. I have no problem with the restrooms or any other aspect of the place. There always seem to be regulars present, which I take as a good sign. I'd recommend some of their more creative dishes. That is where they excel.

Bad Service and Lacking!

WE HAVE DINED HERE FOR YEARS AND REFUSE TO GO BACK! FIRST OF ALL- THEY DONT MAKE YOU FEEL WELCOMED ANY MORE, THE ENTIRE STAFF IS SO COLD, THE PRICES HAVE GONE UP, AND LAST TIME WE WERE THERE THE LEMON CHICKEN WAS 'BLOODY'. THEY WERE NOT VERY SORRY ABOUT THAT, AS WELL! ALSO, MY WIFE ASKED ONE OF THE OWNERS HOW HIS HOILDAY WAS-HE SAID'JUST LIKE ANY OTHER DAY' AND WALKED AWAY! THE RESTROOMS ARE HORENDOUS. WE HAVE MUCH BETTER OPTIONS IN THE WEST BURBS FOR ASAIN FOOD: THE NEW VEINGS AT CROCKER, & ASAIN WOK IN WESTLAKE, PF CHANGS ON THE EAST SIDE!!!

Cordiality decreasing.

Used to be our favorite restaurant--great food, great service. Owners always extremely pleasant. Now it seems that the "next generation" is in charge of both phone orders and greeting people-- with a haughty attitude that leaves much to be desired. Waiters & waitresses still friendly and nice but what a hassle trying to get information on the phone about take-out plus the haughty attitude in person. What a shame because it used to be a favorite place.

EXCELLENT!

We have just started getting takeout here for the past year and we love it! NEVER disappointed, the food has always been good. The person over the phone is always very nice and when we pick the food up, they are always very friendly and pleasant. Overall,a good experience. We've only eaten "in" the restaurant once, and that was a good experience also. They are efficient and the food is ready for pickup within 10-15 min. (wow, very fast!). Our only suggestion to King Wah would be: perhaps put the food in a different container than the plastic ones with lids, since plastic is not that healthy and it sometimes does impart a 'plastic' taste (not always, but ocassionally). Instead, it might be better to use the old paper traditional boxes (like the ones the rice are in, only larger), since they do not transfer an odd taste. Otherwise, your restaurant is G*R*E*A*T!

King Wah is getting worse

Very disappointed in the drop in quality here. They're jacking up prices on their buffet - and enforcing a one-trip rule. Must be because business has fallen since Westgate closed. Used to be good but owners act depressed and have lost their pleasantness. Restrooms are terrible.

General Tsoa's Chicken does not get any better than this...........

I eat out often and have tried many Chinese restaurants but King Wah is like no other. The Greneral Tsao's chicken is the best I have ever had. Every friend I take there is so impressed with the food and service that they all go back! I have never had a bad meal there and the prices are great. This place is so good that I don;t eat Chinese any where else in Cleveland because they don't compare.

The best Lemon Chicken Ever!

Great food and great service! They make the best lemon chicken ever! Very friendly staff and they are very quick with your order. They have recently raised the prices, but they are still worth it.

Great food, excellent service make for best dine-in Chinese on the West Side

King Wah has been my favorite sit down westside Chinese restaurant for the better part of 10 years. The food, service and excellent prices are consistent. The management is consistently and sincerely interested in the quality of food and service and the atmosphere is great for casual dining and a dressy romantic night out alike. They have a patio area where you can eat outside which is open when weather permits.

Keep In Mind:
Rating everything 5 stars or all 1 stars is typically not very useful to others as makes you look a bit biased.

Remember, you can still visit a not so perfect place (ie, a dive joint) and still give it 5 overall stars.
