It's the real deal..........the sweet life !

My husband and I have dined at this restaurant many times during our visits to Cleveland. During our last visit, the owner, Terri, sent over appetizers and shared a drink with my husband and toasted him "good health". Terri sat with us for a while and made us feel like we were a guest in his home. My children loved him and the food and service were great. The eggplant parm was exceptional! We each ordered something different from the menu and shared, family style. Each entrée was wonderful. Anyone who has ever dined in a truly authentic Italian restaurant would realize that this place is the "real deal". Real people, real food, this place is IT ! If you want snooty employees, ordinary Italian food and a phoney atmosphere, then go to the Ritz. This place shouldn't be missed on your next trip to Cleveland. We are planning another trip in June and will be the first restaurant we will enjoy visiting.

Authentic Italian

My husband and I have gone to this restaurant with our family many times during our visits to Cleveland. We have ordered everything on the menu and not one complaint. I owned my own restaurant and speak from the heart, it is excellent !We have dined in the finest Italian Restaurants in Italy, New York, Boston and New Haven. If you want an Authentic Italian experience, this is the place. If you want snooty, "high class", pretentious service, this place is not for you. If you want to experience a true Italian restaurant, then you should come for dinner here. Most diners don't realize what to expect. This is a beautifully genuine Italian event, as dinner should be in the Italian family. Nothing is perfect, especially the people dolling out the bad reviews. Easy to complain, makes insignificant people seem big. It's a shame, but one visit will convince you, this is the next best thing to sitting at a bistro in Naples or Rome.

RUDE OWNER CAN'T HANDLE HIS LIQUOR. NOT FEAST-WORTHY

Went to the feast 2013. Good night started out to be wonderful. Had some great food met some great friends. Wanted to go sit for a spell and have some wine and beer and a few little appetizers. La dolce vita was in a perfect location to sit outside and drink and people watch. The service wasn't that great, however, the waiters that did wait on us finally were amazing and very personable and we tipped them very well for their service. After we sat there for a few hours drinking the wine and beer and eating the food, we had a horrible encounter with the owner. He was the most rude human being I have ever met in my life. He dropped a few f bombs to me and my daughter and basically made a fool of himself. The language and the treatment that we received were totally unwarranted and I am still dumbfounded by his actions. To use such vulgarity toward women is unforgivable. It is obvious to me by reading other reviews that this man cannot handle his liquor. He should not own a business or have the privilege of Operating a business out of Little Italy. What a shame to that community this man is. The food is definitely not worth your time or money. Stick to the authentic Italian places there where Italian men actually treat women with respect and kindness. I actually wondered why it was the only place in the whole murray hill strip that actually had empty tables outside that were empty ... Now I know why.

Four Angrey Birds

I had ordered spaghetti with meat sauce. $17 for a little bowl. It was good but not much of it. I also ordered a salad $5 but never received it. First buddy ordered tha same. He did not like the salad so I ate it. He liked the spaghetti. Second buddy ordered vegetable beef soup and it was good. He also ordered some kind of pasta dish and it was terrible. Even though we were still hungry we could not eat it. Third buddy ordered something fancy. Who knows what it was? He said it was god but there was hardly anything there on his plate. We went through 4 loaves of bread waiting for our food. Service was close to nonexistent. Hardly any food, high price, food is good, and the service is poor.

Beautiful Night ..food so so!!

My Sister and I actually went to have dinner at Mama Santos and discovered they were closed for 2 weeks. We decided on La Dolce Vita since we had never eaten there before. We were greeted by a very sweet hostess and treated well. I had the Abruze. It was ok, average tasting, and overpriced at $17.00. My sister had the Pesto Pasta dish. It was tasty, but pasta was swimming in pesto. Over powering it! It too was $17.00. The house Chianti was very good. All in all it was just ok. I have had better Italian meals else where, but I guess we were paying more for the atmosphere, which is NEVER disappointing!

Owner is rude and will never go there again.

My husband and I were there during the Feast. My husband was called away for a medical emergency. I thought I would wait for him there outside at a table. The table was empty. All of the sudden a VERY RUDE MAN COMES UP TO ME AND SAYS THIS TABLE WAS RESERVED. tHERE WAS NO SIGN ON THE TABLE WHEN i SAT DOWN. I stood up and he proceeds to tell me to get out of the way and that he has a business to run. At this point I realized he was the owner. I left without saying a word. I am mad at myself for not doing so. I will never go back there again. I have told all my friends and family and they agreed to not go back either. We have spent alot of money there in the past and really, I don't know why because the food is maybe average. I beat he would have never talked to me that way if my husband was with me.

La Dolce is La Bomba

Just got back with my wife from our anniversary dinner at La Dolce. ($109 + tip - about average for a good italian meal with wine) Rating Summary: Wine - had the house chardonnay and chianti. Both were very good ($8/glass). Appetizer: Had the Bruschetta bread and it was excellent. Bread: Delivered promptly and was delicious. Salad: Salads were OK - nothing exceptional. By now you are undoubtedly wondering why our low ratings. (Cue the music from "Jaws"). Entrees: I ordered the pasta with Abruze sauce. The sauce was watery and very average - maybe below average. Not what I expected! My wife ordered the seafood pasta and barely ate half of it. It had a strong fishy order, the shrimp were tough and, all-in-all, a very poor dish. If the wine and bread had not been so good, we would have given the food a "1". Service: Slow but that was OK with us since we were in no hurry. However, waiter did not seem very knowledgeable about the menu and had to be asked three times for more bread. Atmosphere: Eating outside on a nice summer evening is hard to beat. Cleanliness: Seemed Ok to us. In all fairness, we did not complain about the poor food since most places assume you are just trying to get a freebie and my wife does not like to make a scene. We have eaten at many places in Little Italy over the years and this was one of the worst meals we have had.

A Beautiful Sunday Afternoon

My wife and I had a wonderful trip to Little Italy; it was our first time. I read the reviews of many restaurants ahead of time and we decided on La Dolce Vita as we walked along the street. The service and food were outstanding. We each had a sandwich; I had the Italian sandwich and my wife had the Parmesan Chicken sandwich. Both came with a small salad. We sat outside on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Great food & service, at a reasonable price. I would absolutely make another trip to La Dolce Vita.

Awesome time

My wife and I live just outside Erie Pa. She mentioned she would like to dine somewhere different, so I took her on a two hour trip to La Dolce Vita. We were met out front by a friendly host and sat on the patio out back. Our waiter read us the specials and I chose the Veal Pavorotti while the wife got the Chicken Parmesean. We both enjoyed a great meal. The Veal was melt in your mouth good. My wife also had aglass of wine. After we walked around Little Italy for about an hour just enjoying the ambience! Great night! Great Resteraunt!!!!

First time there, great italian dinner lovely people

Positive energy, great atmosphere and so many choices of pasta. The marina and mozzarella was the best I have ever tasted and the chicken so tender! I will be going back soon to La Doice Vita Bistro with my wife on our wedding anniversary.

A Special Night to Remember

Last week when my brother and I took his girlfriend to see Little Italy (She's never been to Cleveland), he suggested that my boyfriend and I should check out La Dolce Vita for our 1 year anniversary dinner. My brother was right! It looks so small from the outside, but when we left, we didn't realize that there were 2 other rooms. My boyfriend and I thought it would be a bit nicer inside, but overall, it was great. I got the Gnocchi with Marinara, while my boyfriend got one of the specials that was cheese filled Ravioli with garlic sauce and butter around the plate. We told our waiter that it should be placed on the menu. We definitely plan on coming here again. Pricing was a little steep on our end, but we had a gift certificate from Restaurants.com to use. Overall, we give La Dolce Vita an B+ and we will definitely be coming back in the near future.

Wonderful Food

The food was excellent! However the service was horrible. Horrible to the point that we didn't leave a tip. Our waitress ignored us, when a waiter brought our food out he walked to every table in the place except ours ( and ignored us flagging him down ) to ask if the food was theirs. Then he walked our food back in the kitchen. It was our anniversary , the food may have been great but if I wanted to be treated like I didn't matter I would have went to McDonalds. Even with the bad experience with the staff I would go back- one bad night doesn't mean it will always be like that!

Very Pleasant Surprise!

We were a group of 5 who just went to see Neil Gaiman speak at the Lakeside Library this past week. When the restaurant that we were going to eat at was too full with a party, we decided to head to Little Italy. We parked and walked around, with none of us knowing any specific place to go. We asked a couple we passed for a recommendation and they said "La Dolce Vita". Great choice! We all ordered different entrees and all excellent. Veal, risotto, seafood. The sauces were perfect. Then at the end they brought us a platter of fruit drizzled with triple sec. What a great finish. The service was excellent also I will be back, soon.

A Wonderful Experience!

I have been a fan of this restaurant for years. I drive an hour and a half for one of the finest meals ever! The pasta with escarole divine and the seafood the best! Service is efficient and friendly, and the atmosphere comfortable. Summer is a great time to try the marble tables outside.

Delicous food, authentic decor

This place absolutely has the best calamari I have ever tried... none of the greasy breading that masks the flavor of the food... just a great sauce and a good quality. The style is very European with it's simple decor and concentration on the food itself. The bistro tables outside during the summer make for a relaxing day to sip wine and get some appetizers on a nice day. By far, my favorite restaurant in Cleveland!

An excellent dining experience!

I've been going to La Dolce Vita for special dates and occasions for years now. Every single time I've been there, the service and the food has been simply out of this world. The wine list is above average. The wait staff is cordial and helpful and service is good, even when they are busy. The owner usually makes it to every table to see how everything is. And the beautiful Italian opera-style music is always playing. Try sitting on the sidewalk in the summertime - you can enjoy one of Cleveland's best Italian restaurants and watch Cleveland go by at the same time!

Northern Ohio Live Magazine

If you can't make it to La Dolce on a Monday night for live opera, don't worry; there's always a lot to see at this busy corner bistro in Little Italy, especially if the seasonal sidewalk tables are available. Naturally, the menu features a variety of pasta dishes, including pesto Omar, with fresh basil, walnuts, pine nuts, Parmesan cheese and a dash of chopped plum tomatoes; fettuccine Fellini, with tomatoes, pancetta and gorgonzola in a creamy Parmesan sauce; and the deliciously simple abruzze, with tomatoes and meats simmered with herbs. Delicious dolci - desserts - include the simple but satisfying fruit platter and a variety of daily specials. If you're not in the mood for sweets, step over to the full bar for a nightcap.
