Disappointed

I was incredibly disappointed with my food at Lava Lounge. I ordered a $8.50 shrimp tempura and received a total of 3 shrimp and a small side of slaw. Really? I understand that it was an appetizer, but almost $3 per shrimp? Laughably overpriced and the food was not that special. My bartender was attentive, but my food was so lackluser I just wanted to leave. I will not be returning.

Great place 99.99% of the time...

Only had one bad experience there on a Tuesday back in the Spring of 2009. I was a regular there meeting up with a bunch of friends before or after our games at Clark Fields. This was a cool hang out that many did not know was there last year as well as this year. Lincoln Park Pub is alright for most people, but we were not a huge fan and decided to go here instead. They offer different types of foods that were all really good and healthy too. Prices were very reasonable. Only one bad experience came on a Tuesday when a male bartender seemed a little distracted. I was in a rush and it was taking forever. The girl on Wednesdays was cool as can be, but this guy rather BS with a buddy and talk to a fine female on the other side of the room. That really did not bother me, but he totally screwed up my order and it was far more expensive than I would have ever imagined it to be. The normal sweet fries are great. However, these were totally different and were really thin regular potatoes. They were so over done and filled with grease I had thrown them out. He charged me something like $8.00 just for fries; Not to mention the other food I got during happy hour. Guess he rather promote himself with a deal he had got at Sushi Rock playing music on Wednesday to the other musician and try to impress the woman, but I was highly insulted. I forgive the establishment, but was very angry when I had left. I hate being in a rush. Wanted to say something but bit my tongue instead. Went there for a surprise birthday party my friends threw for me, but have gone elsewhere like the Social Club on Starkweather, the Treehouse, and the South Side instead. Overall it is a great place to go with interesting people who are creative and stylish. Great drinks made by beautiful bar maids.

TRENDY AND SEXY PLACE

This is a great place for a first date..its cozy, music is not too loud and the fireplce really sets the mood, the lighting is great as well, not too bright ,not too dark..it's also a great place to go for some late night food or after a cavs game or something, but to all the guys out there this is definately a cute little "first date" spot. Me and my guy always go and take a seat on the couch, have a few drinks and some great conversation.

Best Cocktails in Cleveland.

They have great unique martinis, the Pumpkin Spice is to die for. They have a good menu too. The customers usually seem to be on the hipper side. The interior is nice and dark, and there is always great music playing.

Great bar, great food

This is hands down one of the best locations in Cleveland. The atmosphere is intimate and warm, the service is very good, and the food and drinks are fantastic. I always stop in this place when in the Tremont neighborhood.

Lava Lounge is pretty hot!

My wife and I visited the Lava Lounge on a Friday night. The atmosphere at this lounge is both retro and very comfortable. From the minute you walk in the first thing one notices is the disarming red and blue accent lighting. The bar is fully stocked offering a nice selection of bottom, mid, and top shelf liquors. The first floor featured a DJ playing an enjoyable set of both retro and modern rock music, but not so loudly that it was too hard to carry on a conversation. A nice selection of couches on the first floor offer many comfortable seating options. The second floor offers table seating and another full bar. More interesting accent lighting, art, and a fire place can also be found on the second floor. It was cold out that night however the fire place was not lit for some reason. There were plenty of capable and attentive staff. At no time did we have to wait long for drink orders or correct them. The prices are moderate but the drinks are poured generous. We did not order food at this visit. We hope to sample the menu on our next visit. Although the restrooms were small, they were clean and stocked. Stop by the Lava and try it out, it's well worth your visit.

Urban Vibe

Awesome lounge. We come for the dj's everynight, food, wine, and a great place to people watch. Leave your attitude and ball cap at home. A true urban lounge. Best fried calamari in the city. The ribeye sandwich with the hot pepper jam awesome. Oysters on the half shell with the ginger mignonette, refreshing. This place reminds me of a place in Chicago called Delilahs.
