My 2 sisters and I dined for the first and last time at this establishment where a customer is expected to pay for misprints in the menu. We ordered 6 appetizers at a cost of $50.00. One was returned and substituted because it wasn't what was reflected on the menu. The waitress was insulted at the expectation that one would be served what the menu said and called a manager, insisting that I should keep the order. The manager apologized and explained that there was a printing error in the menu and he would take the "surprise" menu item back and allow a substitute.
The manager sent the rejected order back to my table bagged as a "gift". While I didn't want it, I graciously thanked my server for the gesture. Imagine my surprise when I learned upon receiving my $50.00 check that the manager had discounted the rejected order 50% and added the $2.50 for his "gift" to my $50.00 check..horrible!!!!

I mean, seriously, it doesn't get any better than that. Thick slices of Avacado, lightly battered then fried to perfection. Served with a light mexican/taziki fusion sauce and ketchup. Mmmmm. Another favorite is the Chipotle-glazed ribs. Fall off the bone tenerness. The new menu at Lopez is innovate, modern, sophisticated, yet not pretentious. Mexican influenced cuisine infused with modern Euro/American culinary trends. I was on a date last time I was there. Ate at the bar, which was totally relaxing and casual. The margaritas definitely helped to break the ice. Loved it!

lopez has been on lee road since 1980, and at the current location since 2001. they continue to improve all the time. their effort to make things better is evident in all aspects. SEVE and the management always try to make the food, drinks, and the total experience better than you would expect - and they succeed. the new chef (jason)has developed a wonderful, innovative menu that is even better than any i've had in all the southwest. and i do travel, so i know what i'm talkin bout folks. please do yourself a favor - LOPEZ !!! ask for hugh -- www.lopezonlee.com

lopez has sustained it's predominent position for many years. it now consisers itself southwesten rather than mexican. the menu and service have never been better. we were there just last week and found the new menu by the new chef jason even better than ever. wonderful interpretations and a very hot and exceptional bartender named mark. and if he is there, ask to meet sev - for a free margarita i'm sure.

Sure the entrees at Lopez are a little pricey. And yes, it's too loud when it's crowded. But, the chips and salsa are always flowing -- gratis. The margaritas are a super bargain on Tuesday and Thursdays and the side orders are always a steal. (Try the spinach and pumpkin seeds -- really.) The patio in the summer is hard to beat. And the harried wait staff is always friendly. But best of all, Lopez is nonsmoking. How wonderful is it to walk out of a place on Lee Road after 10 p.m. and not have to take a shower when you get home? Very, that's how.

If your quest to find the perfect margarita takes you to Lopez, shoot for a Tuesday or Thursday night: The salty-sweet treats, available by the glass or the pitcher, are half-price (as are tequila shots). Of course, it's not just cheap liquor that draws patrons to the Cedar-Lee Mexican hot spot; at Lopez, south-of-the-border goes gourmet with dishes like mushroom-and-goat-cheese quesadillas and trout Pepita (a pecan-and-pumpkin-seed-crusted filet, served with red chile roasted potatoes, grilled long beans and jalapeûo-mustard sauce). If you still have room, order the banana-pecan tart or the caramel flan; both are worth the extra calories.

I highly recommend Lopez on any night. The menu has a wide variety of food from chicken to seafood. I love the scallops and risotto! Although Lopez is a little pricey, it is worth it especially if you go on a Tues. and Thurs. for half price margaritas.
Keep in mind - its loud in there, it may not be the best place to take grandma!
