Disappointment is not even the word!

We recently attended a wedding here and this place is a dump. The building itself has to be remodeled in decades. Flash back to the 82. The food was disgusting and most of the people at out table did not even eat. It didn't help that the old owner wasmoking a cigar all night in the place! Everyone w as complaining about it h didn't seem to care. I would recommend staying far away from this place. I know we will need go back

Massimo Da Milano - I like it

I've read all the disappointed people's reviews, unfortunately in life restaurants don't get it right, and miss the mark. It happens. Massimo and Tony are Historic and part of the culture in Cleveland. It's not the Ritz or Pier East. but for the cost: The food buffet is OK for Italian cuisine, their bakery is better, the venue is beautiful but old and the location is great, parking so/so. I know because I had my 50th Birthday Party there in 2013. Tony's event Coordinator was great, Picked my Menu, paid a small deposit, chose my color scheme, Tony negotiated a later start time for a later end time and the drink prices were very reasonable. The birthday cake was amazing, all I had to do was show up. No decorating, No clean up. Yes, the food was Not HOT, (warm)but tasty, with many choice. Served warm because the guest was not ready to eat at the dinner hour. Everyone had a great time and the servers were very nice, and the bartender was great. Yeah I don't like the Old guy smoking inside, He should NOT smoke cigars in his own restaurant (But if you don't like it don't book your event there.) The $3.00 lunches are great if you are hungry and yes it is for the poor, and the working class. I think That's the point it's affordable. No other food place in Cleveland does that. So If you are part of the upper class and need an upscale venue, decadent food, 5 star service, then go to the Ritz or Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel and Pay top $$$ Tony Stop Smoking in front of your guest please, and fix your air condition and blinds.

Terrible Establishment & HOT inside!!!!!!!

I had my daughter's wedding shower at Massimo Da Miliano's in Cleveland on Sunday the 23rd of June. We booked the room in January and they never told us that it would be the HOTTEST room in the building!!! They said the A/C was on but there was only a very small vent covered by a big white canvas of some kind. They put 2 very very small fans in the room with us but they did ABSOLUTELY nothing!!!!! There were blinds on the windows but they were all broken so we couldn't even pull them down to block some of the sun! I spoke to the owner Tony and he told me the A/C was on the coldest setting. If you went into the other room or by the bar you could feel the A/C but as soon as you got close to the room upfront it was BEASTLY HOT!!!!!!!! He also told me that we should have booked the other room if we wanted it to be cold.............really that is not something you say to a paying customer as a business man!!!! He was very rude to us and I WILL NEVER go back to this establishment for ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!! We had the room for three hours but everyone was literally dripping in sweat so as soon as my daughter finished opening gifts (which she did very quickly) all the guests got up and left. So they were only there for two hours!!! I paid for the three hours!!!! I also want to let people know that as we were getting ready to leave there was a RAT TRAP yes I said RAT TRAP under one of the gift tables that went off!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was very loud so we looked under the table to see what it was. I couldn't see a RAT but there was a white box and it said right on it RAT TRAP!!!!!!!!!!!! There is much more I can complain about but this was the worst of it all!!!!!

I have worked for Tony for years and I was so shocked to read these reviews. I personally have never heard anyone complain about the food or service. I believe the food is very tastefull and I am not just saying that. We have had plenty of reccomondations..and great reviews for lunch, parties and mothers day brunch.

Buffet Bar . . . Less than Par

Greasy, bland, and unlabeled buffet table. Distasteful display of mass-produced, generic, cheap-looking and cheap-tasting food. Restrooms located in basement in a dark, narrow, confusing pathway- NOT handicap accessible. Parking spots- approximately 8 narrow spaces. Owner smokes cigar and counts money at the doorway entrance.

Buffets are a rip off

Went here for an Easter Buffet expecting something fancy for $22 + tax & tip. All I can say is rip-off. The owner is an old man who walks around inside the restaurant smoking a cigar, which I feel is inappropriate. The spread consisted of salad, a few pasta choices, some breakfast foods (eggs, sausage), a carving station and a dessert table. The food is not even mediocre, but the desserts were decent. Also, you have to pay extra for iced tea, pop & coffee. The carving station had fatty & rubbery meat. Bomber Squadron by the airport is an amazing value compared to this measly buffet display. Don't waste your money!

Not so HOT!!

Went to Milano's a few years ago for dinner, food was good then. Went again recently on a tour with seniors and the buffet was just fair...cold. Again with a bus tour for Mardi Gras..buffet was fair and the type food of was not in keeping with the theme of Mardi Gras . Maybe when ordering off the menu is different than having the buffet for a group.

SO TOTALLY AWFUL

I used Massimo's to cater my sister's baby shower. Well, the salad was just lettuce, barely cup up, so they literally just threw a whole bunch of brown uncut lettuce in a container. The dressing was oil with some seasonings. completely disgusting. I got chicken marsala. EWWWWW. the chicken was so over cooked that my dog wouldn't even eat it. Now that's sad. It was rubbery, plain, no flavor, and the mushrooms were so dried up that they looked like raisins. The only good thing that came from them, was the desserts, but really not worth my money. I was sooooooo totally embasassed at my sister's baby shower that I actually called olive garden and mass ordered food for about 60 some people. The aggravation and stress was NOT worth the price. Shame on you Massimo's!!!

Been to Massimos for showers, christenings, weddings as well as afternoon lunches. Never had bad food. One time the food could have been warmer...but that did not take away the taste. Their bakery is awesome! Calada cake, Amerito cake. finger pasteries all mouth watering

HORRIBLE!!

This place was absolutely horrible... the food is very cold and greasy as others noted. The food had no flavor and the rolls are very hard and cold. I would not recommend this to anyone ever! I felt like this place was for the poor.

LOVE THIS PLACE

I'm really surprised at some of the other reviews. I've eaten here on many occasions and never had a problem. In fact, I've recommended this place to people who always came back to me with rave reviews. The atmosphere is great (almost magical at night) and the food always tastes so good that it is hard to stop eating, even after I'm stuffed. Desserts are really good too and the prices are very reasonable. I would recommend everyone trying this place and making up their own mind about it rather than relying on reviews.

Very disappointed

My wife and I visited this restaurant (W. 25th St.) on 10/13/2010, while on a Senior Citizens group tour of Cleveland. We were very disappointed in the food and how presented. Everything was cold and most were greasy. We ate what we dared eat (our stomachs let us know later that evening and the next day). The best part was the deserts and the mints we took when we left. Hopefully, the tour operator does not use this place again.

Massi-vely Disappointed

I'vd driven by this lovely building and always wondered what was inside. It's like some of those beautiful cakes you see: stunning to look at and not great taste inside. There were no signs on the food to identify what was on the buffet, the pasta was barely sauced, the salad was old and limp, the chicken tenders greasy. There is no dessert buffet just items dropped at your table. On the plus side, my server was good and did bring something chocolate at my request. You walk in and it's like going to a church fish fry, someone is sitting there to either take your money or send you to the other room. Stunning setting but not worth the bargain price or my time.

Messimo is more like it

Attended a wedding reception there - food was horrible. The salad dressing was just oil with some herbs - nauseating. The pasta sauce was watery and flavorless. I was served some gingerale in a glass advertising the Free Clinic of Cleveland. I would never pay money to eat there.

Massimo's (Terrible)

I just came from Massimo's lunch buffet (although, we wound up leaving before eating) and the service as well as the buffet was awful! They had dried up stuffed mushrooms, tuna, hard as brick rolls, breakfast sausage (links and patties), old hashbrowns and dried up chicken along with a few other dishes I couldn't tell what they were. The chef happened to come out and my friend asked him about the food and he said, we had this left over from Mother's day brunch so we just put it out today. My friend looked confused and his response was, "You are lookin like, what the f***" which was very rude and unprofessional. We decided to eat somewhere else. On the way out we reported the incident and the owner just laughed it off, telling us that the guy has worked for him for twenty years and that's just how he is. I will never go back there and I don't recommend anyone else to go.
