I'm hooked

Reading all of these reviews I don't get it, my wife and I happened to drive by and stopped in for dinner. The place is beautiful and the patio is simply amazing. I run a restaurant and I was blown away by the service and especially the food. For all of the people complaining about slow service, stick to your chain pre frozen food, but if you want a local place with great food and atmosphere, come in for a relaxing night, we'll be there.

Keep on Your Toes!

The snotty hostess will give away your table if you don't keep after her. And they DON'T CARE! Plan on spending hours there to eat. Slow, slow, slow. Bad management or lousy customer service - take you pick!

Just Ok

I went to "the Moose" today when I was in Westlake for business (from Cleveland). It was suggested to me yesterday by those I was meeting with. I was surprised that in this day and age that they didn't have a website. When we got there the parking lot was packed and the patio was full so we ate inside. The decor was odd - kind of fishing lodge meets grandma's kitchen. Service was good, now overly pushy but not slow. My first impression with the menu was "whoa!" but not in a good way. Too much stuff, bad layout and design made it difficult to even read. I settled on a sandwich which was good - way too big but good. Over all the food was okay - not anything that wowed me but nothing bad. The portions were huge - way too much for the average customer and prices were high (my bill for a coke & sandwich was $15 + tip). I don't really see the draw in this place other then that it's a local joint and I'll always choose local over a chain. But the food could have been from any Applebee's, Chili's or Ruby Tuesdays.

Great Oaisis Away from Home

As a out of towner from Tennessee who comes up for Browns games, the Moosehead is always an anticipated stop. The Manager Melinda is great, attentive to all of your needs. The bartender Nicole is personable and always friendly, and the perch sandwich is to die for. What more can a person ask for? If you are looking for a great time, cold beer, and great food, there is no need to look any further. You've found it at the Moosehead.

Moosehead Saloon

I work at a restaurant about .5 miles from this establishment's Olmsted Falls location. I went to chekc it out since it hasn't been opened long and we were hearing mixed reviews. The Pumper Mozz and Tomato appetizer was pretty good those 10 bucks for fried cheese and tomatos with some spinach seems like a bit much for me. We then had the California Cobb Salad(9.99) and the 7 oz. Open faced Prime Rib(12.99). The portions are quite generous though for the specialty of the food served the price still seemed a bit much. To accompany my Prime Rib I ventured to have a glass of the Firesteed Pinot Noir (lighter fruity red wine for those who aren't into that too much). For 9.25 that was ridiculous. It was acidic and not a good portion to be 9.25, its no even imported. Anyways, lastly for dessert we had the fried twinkie dessert. It was great, and not only that it wasn't too much either (6.99). So as for the food it was pretty good but kinda pricey, the wine on the other hadn, very pricey for the quality (I work at a french restaurant I've tried quite a bit). The servers/service on the other hand is a different story. The female wait staff are dressed in black t-shirts that say 911(following the firehouse theme) however they are also wearing plaid skirts and knee high socks. Kind of sketchy as an attire for a nice restaurant since skirts don't really follow a firehouse kind of atmosphere. To add to that some, not all, of the male service staff are wearing skirts too... Its not a celtic restaurant so what are they doing? Ok enough of how they look, they are slow. It took about 15 to 20 min to get a box to leave not to mention the gentleman that was waiting on me, asked me if the dessert "Kicked my ass". I am in college, but I appreciate to be treated in a professional manner when dining out. So as a short summary: Food good but over priced service is slow and dressed inappropriate for the atmosphere.

Again and Again

Was in Cleveland for 5 days and made 4 trips to "The Moose". The cold beer (some of the coldest that i have ever had) brought me back for the second trip. The awesome service (friendly bartenders) kept me coming back after that. The food was also very good. Will definitely go back on my return trip to cleveland.

AWESOME SERVICE & FOOD!

My guest and enjoyed our visit to Moosehead this past Saturday, 01-26-08. Prices are slightly high for the premium Long Island Tea's and the Martini's. But, what do you expect? This is Westlake, afterall! Being my first time here, my guest highly recommended it. The decor is gorgeous with wood to be found everywhere. The floor should have been wood, as well, as opposed to carpeting. The place is rather small, and extremely busy. We waited at the bar for approximately 25 minutes for a booth to become available. The service was spectacular.. her name is Amy. She went above and beyond her duty to make sure we had a pleasant dining experience. The sandwich prices are reasonably priced, as well as the appetizers. The pricing is no different than your average American dining experiences (Applebee's, TGI Friday's, Chili's, etc.). Although, it may be quaint and cozy, the staff seemed lively and energetic. Obviously, if the place is busy, they must be doing something right! When I left there, I felt satisfied (full of food) and had a nice fuzzy feeling from the two Long Island's I consumed while dining. I would definitely return again and make sure to have Amy take care of my table. Thank You, Moosehead for an excellent FIRST IMPRESSION of great food and spirits! :o)

Food/Atmosphere Thumbs Up, But Lacking Service

This is one of the few places I have continued to go back to even though the service is bad. This goes for hostess, waiters, waitress, & special bartenders. The Moosehead is almost always busy and if they would hold their employees accountable and yes have some "flare" it would never have a empty seat.U get you food & drinks, but dn't expect a smile or much personality. If you never been-Try it! And if you get good service please leave a review of whom, so I know who to ask for in the future ;-)

A 2 hour lunch??!!

I have always loved this place because the food is out of this world, but I can't say I've ever had great service. I was there recently and had the WORST service there ever. We waited an hour after we placed our order until the food came. I don't think I will ever go back. I am surprised that place is as busy as it is considering how awful the service staff is.

I know everyone just "loves" this place, but...

I still don't get it. The food is totally mediocre and way overpriced. Everything I've had (mainly fish dishes) has been REALLY salty (and that's saying something as I've been known to consider salting my own HAND, I use so much salt in my food). My husband tells me the wings are good, but everything else we've ever had is just not worth the wait, or the price. I had crab cakes one and it was, no joke, at least 80% filler breadcrumbs. For $16 or whatever, just not what I was looking for. It's very cute on the inside though, but it gets completely packed at dinner.

A Gem!

The Moosehead is a Gem of a find, especially in a world of Chain Restarurants. It is small, yes, but the food is exceptional, and every time I've been there, the service is always very friendly. Me and my wife like to sit at the bar alot, because there is usually always a very familiar face at the bar. The one bartender, Shannon, always remembers what we drink. Jennifer is always very fast and seemingly efficient. The bar stools are large, but they are comfy! Its beautiful inside, the only downfall i complain about is the restrooms, too small! And parking can be difficult sometimes, not enough spaces. My grade is an A!

Love the Mooshead

I have 2 favorite places for cheeseburgers by price, for a 3.00 cheesburger its Beardens, for a 7.00 cheeseburger is the Moosehead. Love the homeaid chips, and that out door patio is just gorgeous... Ive also had the fishermans platter , a bit on the spicy side but I enjoyed it. You have to get there early ...the place is tiny.

Too small, and Pricey!!!

This place is by far over rated! You cannot sit at the bar comfortably, due to over-sized bar stools, which make getting in and out difficult at best. You almost feel as though you are sitting on top of one another. The waitresses are terrible... service is at a premium, and most of them think they are model material. Prices are high for what you get, and not much of a Happy Hour. Bathrooms are clean but only a one holer!

Food Good! Service Bad!

I moved to Westlake about 6 months ago. When I arrived, one of the first restaurants/bars I discoverd was the Moosehead Saloon. I LOVED the atmosphere and started bringing anyone that visited me, there. I did, however notice that the bartenders weren't the nicest, but I kept giving it another chance, thinking they were just having a bad day. Well, I soon realized that it was an every visit type thing, and stopped coming there all together. I will probably eventually give it another chance, but next time, I will let their manager know my thoughts. There are too many bartenders out there for them to settle with the ones they have working there.

Cute and quaint!

One of my favorite restaurants, the Moosehead is cute and quaint (small which makes it pretty busy on the weekends). They offer an extensive menu, plenty of healthy options, and great service. I hear they expanded with a patio so I will check that out this summer!

Must be the booze

The worst meal I have ever had was at the Moosehead. The waitress knew it and let me leave an unsatisfied customer. I ordered one of their sandwiches paid $14.25 for the sandwich fries and a pepsi. The sandwich listed in the menu stated cold salmon--I thought it was cold cooked salmon but it was raw salmon. No offer to let me change my selection or make it good. Only had a few fries, paid and left. Will not return.

Time To Kick Back!

A long time patron I remain to this comfortable atmosphere. Iron Wood lost me 3yrs ago. Whether to kick back and grab a beer or sit down, relax, conversate, and enjoy an awsome dinner this is the place to be.

Rivals!

The Moosehead rivals the Iron Wood, and its a good fight. Both have outstanding food, but the moosehead serves their own homemade chips which are outstanding. The prices are a little high but not horrible. The service has been outstanding everytime I eat there.

Keep In Mind:
Rating everything 5 stars or all 1 stars is typically not very useful to others as makes you look a bit biased.

Remember, you can still visit a not so perfect place (ie, a dive joint) and still give it 5 overall stars.
