Moxie has moxie
I had the opportunity to be treated to a birthday dinner at Moxie and I was not disappointed. The service (on a Monday night) was exceptional; the calamari starter like it's supposed to be and my mac and cheese entree a delight! While I would have preferred a lighter entree it was what it was -- done right and with ambition. I would recommend the place for any occastion.

Several visits to Moxie each year are necessary if one wants to keep up with the ever-changing seasonal menu; even that kind of schedule may not prove frequent enough, considering Chef Jonathan Bennett's creativity and the tempting nature of the appetizers, entrees and desserts at this busy East Side spot. On weekend nights, a tony crowd chatters under dim dinner-hour lighting and bright murals, enjoying cuisine honored by both local and national media for its inventiveness and flair: specifically, dishes like lemon-and-thyme-crusted tilapia with sweet potato fondue and grain mustard spaetzle. For those who like their meals a bit less involved, there's the Moxie burger - an old standard with trendy touches like Niman Ranch bacon, Grafton cheddar, mesclun and herb aņoli.
